Synthesis, antifungal activity and in silico ADMET studies of benzyl alcohol derivatives

Background and Aims: Fungal infections continue to pose a serious threat human well-being due the increasing cases of resistance against existing antifungal drugs. Consequently, efforts are increasingly focused towards investigating new moieties with potential activity different fungal species. The object this work was synthesize evaluate five benzyl alcohol derivatives Candida albicans Trichophyton rubrum also study biochemical as well ADMET properties compounds in silico. Methods: target were obtained by reduction appropriate aldehyde using sodium borohydride. Subsequently tested two species ketoconazole positive control. activities calculated at DFT/B3LYP/6-311G* basis set help Gaussian09 (G09) software. Results: findings revealed that some exhibited interesting inhibitory action C. while others T. rubrum. However, MIC MFC results demonstrated none fungicidal concentrations tested. In silico studies showed all have good cell permeability index, their intestinal absorption values within recommended scale plasma protein binding. Conclusion: studied encouraging favorable pharmacokinetic properties.
